A B O U T

In both the book and the movie versions of The Princess Bride, Fezzik is the very strong, very tall, and surprisingly sensitive giant hired by Vizzini to do away with The Dread Pirate Roberts and assist in his kidnapping of Buttercup. In the book version he is of turkish descent and a wrestler. He and Inigo become compatriots and friends, developing a rhyming banter that characterises their interaction.

Bested in strength (in the book, a wrestling match) by the Pirate, a dejected Fezzik becomes a member of Florin's Brute Squad. In the book, he must rescue Inigo from The Pit of Despair - in the movie, he finds a drunk Inigo, nurses him back to health and tells him that Rugen is the six-fingered man.

The reunited friends hear the sound of Westly's ultimate suffering, find him mostly dead and end up bringing him to Miracle Max's for a cure.

After the good guys defeat evil - no matter how temporarily - and Fezzik finds a very comfortable cloak - the four new friends ride off to safety - at least in the movie.

In the "sequel" to The Princess Bride, Buttercup's Baby, Fezzik, Buttercup, Westly and Inigo end up on a deserted island together. Fezzik delivers Westly and Buttercup's baby girl, Waverly while temporarily overtaken by the spirit of a doctor. The two become especially close and Fezzik ends up - apparently - dying tragically, sacrificing his life for the baby.
